Card present transactions
definition
What do Card present transactions mean?

There are several types of transactions categorized by the level of risk it involves. One such transaction type is the card present transaction where the credit or debit card is physically present at the time of the procedure.

Costumers are charged differently depending on the type of transaction they wish to complete, these charges have varying fees depending on the type and the credit or debit card transaction processor, like Visa or MasterCard. This fee is higher if the risk level for fraud is high. Because the card is present at these types of transactions the level of risk is really low, and the card can be inspected and its authenticity verified. These low risk transactions have lower fees than other transactions, like ones that happen over the phone or the internet.
