Reference number
definition
What does Reference Number mean?

A reference number is what you will observe being displayed on your monthly statement, with one reference number corresponding to each one of your transactions. This is yet another security feature pertaining to the credit cards business, and you can always make certain claims/complaints using that specific reference number displayed on your credit card statement.

Any inquiries you might have use the reference number displayed, especially if you observe that there have been put some extra charges (a fee you don’t know what it is for or if you have been charged a higher value than expected for example). Knowing how to read your credit card statement will definitely have all your questions related to your credit card’s use answered.
