Zombie debt
definition
What does Zombie debt mean?

If you have old credit card debts outstanding that is called a “zombie debt”. From a legislative point of view, there are limitations set up as to what can be called “old debt”, for which no debt collector can force you to pay. These limitations generally vary between debts older than three to ten years, but in some cases even more. You may be asked to pay for these by your creditor/debt collector through mail/phone; however there will be no lawful enforcement to oblige you. The association with the term “zombie” comes from the fact that however old a debt is, it is not totally erased, but one will carry it on and on.
